26th January, the Republic day of India:
73
26th January 1950 was the date on which the Constitution of India came into force replacing the Government of India Act 1935 and since then 26th January is observed as the Republic day of India although India observed 15th August 1947 as the day of independence. The day 26th January is one of the most important days in Indian history as it was the day of enforcement of the constitution of India and making India a truly sovereign state. It was the day, the countrymen realized the dream of Mahatma Gandhi and remember the numerous freedom fighters who, fought for and sacrificed their lives for the cause of Independence of India. Dr. Ambedkar was the pioneer in making the constitution. Federalism and the British Parliamentary system jointly formed the basis of the constitution. Sir Anthony Eden, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (April 1955-January 1957) said, ‘‘Of all the experiments in government, which have been attempted since the beginning of time, I believe that the Indian venture into parliamentary government is the most exciting. A vast subcontinent is attempting to apply to its tens and thousands of millions a system of free democracy... It is a brave thing to try to do so. The Indian venture is not a pale imitation of our practice at home, but a magnified and multiplied reproduction on a scale we have never dreamt of. If it succeeds, its influence on Asia is incalculable for good”. Granville Austin, who was an American Constitutional authority, wrote that what the Indian Constituent Assembly began was “perhaps the greatest political venture since that originated in Philadelphia in 1787.”
Republic Day Celebration:
The Republic Day is celebrated all over India. Of course, the day is especially observed in the capital, New Delhi. The occasion begins with a solemn reminder of the sacrifice of the martyrs who died for independence and for succeeding wars for the defense of the sovereignty of the country. The day is also observed to award the medals of bravery to those who have exceptional courage in different situations. A spectacular parade becomes an attraction of the occasion. Every year a grand parade is held in the capital, from the Rajghat, along the Vijaypath where regiments of the army, the Navy and the Air force march past in all their finery and official decorations. Pageant of different states displays their activity that brings out the diversity and richness of the culture of India giving a festive air to the occasion.
The Preambles of Democracy: The Indians might be proud of sustaining democracy since six decades but definitely would not feel satisfied looking to the shortages in different sectors. India might be shown progress in economy but not in giving proper education to all the children, proper training to all the youths and proper adjustment at work to all of them to earn their living. It is still observed that most of the children are not going to schools. The people with lower income is poor, most of them live in huts and mud houses and many living under open skies. There are people starving and spending days without food. Many are weak and frustrated where most of them have been declared as Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes or Dalits who have been given separate colonies to live in and they are recognized unequal. Similarity is also shown with few Muslim communities too. Frustration leads them to become a terrorist party and friend of neighbor state Pakistan who indulge in terrorist strike to snatch Kashmir from India. There is patriotic song of unity but party tickets are mostly distributed on the basis of Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians and Dalits.
Unity of Tricolor:
The Indian national Flag has united people of all states irrespective of Caste, religion and language and that is the greatest achievement of Indian democracy. The country has shortcoming in all fronts but the country is rich by the blessings of God. It is blessed with mountains, rivers, minerals, jungles, fertile land, gases, petroleum, coals, irons and other basics of progress. The country could not achieve the desired targets. It is because the people who had been occupying seats of power were not competent people. These people have made the democracy into a state of bureaucracy. It is not correct to say that these people are the true representative of the people. The political parties nominate candidates not on the basis of merits, but on other consideration. The candidates spent money in elections and when they are in power, they try their best at first to recollect that money and collect something more for the next election. Thus corruption and favoritism become day of administration. That is why there is huge corruption in 2G-Spectrum in Telecom, huge corruption in CWG (Common Wealth Game), Adarsh Housing Scam, Money laundering keeping huge amount in the Bank of Switzerland and also in every other sector beyond detectable sphere .There is democracy in the guise of party dictatorship and individual autocracy. The elected people are not working for the common people. That is the reason here in India rich are growing richer and the poor becoming poorer. 26th January is the day of introspection where the leaders should examine their activity in the sphere of development to remove the distress of the common people to make India really a democratic peaceful country, a country for all community and religion manifesting a country of 21st century of human civilization in the history of Mankind.

Excellent hub, my friend. I was a little upset to read that, "Similarity is also shown with few Muslim communities too. Frustration leads them to become a terrorist party and friend of neighbour state Pakistan who indulge in terrorist strike to snatch Kashmir from India." Remember that there are actually more Muslims living in India than there are in Pakistan... and only a minute percentage of those Muslim Indians are involved in terrorism.
And your history will tell you that the ruler of Kashmir, Maharajah Hari Singh, handed Kashmir over to India during the fracas that was occurring preparatory to and during Partition.
Rightly or wrongly, Pakistani interests were being militarily advanced, but Kashmir is predominantly Musalman, and I personally feel that the country should either be independent or part of Pakistan.
Regardless of all that, thank you once again, for a very well researched and informative hub
Happy Indian Republic Day
Wonderful reply, my friend, and I agree with you completely. You will see by my profile that I was born in Quetta, Baluchistan, British India. My place of birth changed its name several times in my lifetime: British India, India, Baluchistan (for a day), West Pakistan, Pakistan.
I know several Pakistanis, intelligent young men, who agree with me that the whole of the subcontinent which was part of the British Raj should be one country: India.
I don't like the idea of a country created or divided on ethnic or religious grounds. I, as you are aware, can call myself by many names, as a person, but could I honestly recite the extract from Sir Walter Scott’s ‘The lay of the last Minstrel’ with any real belief in the words I was saying?
“Breathes there the man, with soul so dead,
Who never to himself hath said,
This is my own, my native land!
Whose heart hath ne'er within him burn'd,
As home his footsteps he hath turn'd,
From wandering on a foreign strand!
If such there breathe, go, mark him well;
For him no Minstrel raptures swell”
No, I feel that I have loyalty to several countries, Wales England and Australia all being in there… so the fragmentation of any country upsets me greatly. By doing that, I feel that my birthright and my own personal history is being eroded.
Enough said
