Assam, the Land of Nature :
The wild animals are living in Forest Area of Kaziranga under the protection of the Govt. of Assam and the place is being turned into a National Park and become an International Tourist Center:
The Forest Areas of Kaziranga and Manas are the areas of wild life animals and considered as the world Heritage sites. It was 1904, Mary Victoria Leiter Curzon, the wife of the then Viceroy of India Lord Curzon paid a visit to Assam and went to see the Kaziranga Forest Area. She was overwhelmed by the surrounding beauty of nature and the variety of animals. She expressed her desire for a better arrangement for the Forest Area. However that was the beginning of the development of Kaziranga Forest Area. Since then Kaziranga Forest Area was beginning to improve year after year and now it is transformed into Kaziranga National park. A series of beautiful tourist resorts is also being built up for international tourists. Animals are better cared with open shelter and food. Every year hundreds of thousands of visitors local and abroad are visiting the Kaziranga Forest Area. Roaming inside the jungles seating at the back of elephants under protection is an enjoyable journey for every tourists. No body prefers to miss one hour Safari rides to have a look to one horn rhinoceros by chance. The rapid running of deer and often bathing of Rhinos and elephants in pond and rivers is a seen of excitement to enjoy life with nature.
Assam, a Land of Natural Beauty:
Assam is a land of Nature situated at the extreme North-East of India. Earlier Assam was known as Pragjyotisha as is found in Mahabharata. At the beginning of the British Rule in India, Assam was not included in the territory of British India. But later in course of time in 1826, the British Government extended its territory and Assam was brought under British Rule. It was British Rule who brought the plantation of tea in the Assam Valley. Today tea gardens throughout the range of Assam valley is a natural beauty site where lacks of labors, who were once brought here from different parts of India are working here together forming a different class of community even though their ancestors lived in different places of India and nurtured under different language.
Assam Black Tea is a Breakfast Tea:
Southern China is a place for plantation of tea for a long time. Assam crossing over Arunachal makes a boarder with Southern China. Under the patronage of British officials during the rule of British period, the plantation of tea was started in Assam with the expertise of the workers of China. The initial study for the plantation of tea was researched in Southern China. The successful tea plantation in Assam resulted in the production of a good variety of tea to generate very strong, bright attractive coloring liquor by boiling tea leaves with water. This has brought a rapid change in the habit of drinking liquid in Assam. The production of tea in Assam had revolutionized the cultural habit of the people. Assam Valley lies adjacent to the Brahmaputra River. To day Assam Valley is one of the largest tea growing areas of the world. It is black tea of Assam having a rich, strong and a distinctive malty taste of favor very much known to out side Assam. Assam is producing more than 1500,000 pounds of a high quality tea yearly. Sometimes people enjoy Assam tea mixing with Darjeeling tea, the mixture of which gives a different flavor.
Assam Is a Land of Festival:
Assam is a place of diverse tribes; each of which has its own traditional customs and culture. During festive period the different diverse groups come together to exhibit their traditional culture through song and dances. The major festival of Assam is Bihu which is celebrated three times in a year with three different objectives. The festivals are named as Bohag Bihu or Rangali Bihu in April, Magh Bihu or Bhogali Bihu in January and Kati Bihu in October-November. Rangali Bihu (festival of Merriment) is observed with colorful dances and songs. The young boys and girls take part in the festival cutting across the bar of class and caste. Words fail to describe some of the wonderful events of performance exhibiting some extraordinary customs. The festival describes their artistic sense. Their brilliant choreography brings in front their customs of province. The beautiful dance performance increases the beauty of the festival and above all it brings an atmosphere of unity of love and affection among all sections of people.
The mighty Brahmaputra is the Father as well as the mother of Wild Animals:
Assam is the homeland of hundreds and thousands of the endangered one horned rhinoceros. The river Brahmaputra is flowing on the northern boundary of the Kaziranga Park making the area very fertile. The fertile soil had grown up thick jungles making the area a safe homeland for hundreds and thousands of wild animals. There was a time when the Rhinos, elephants and deer were found on the national high way passing through Guwahati to Dibrugarh.
