Bangkok is now a Global City:

Bangkok is the capital and the prominent city of Thailand although it is a small port at the mouth of Chao Phraya River. It has now acquired the status of one of the Global Cities in Asia in the 21st century. In the legend it is believed that the city was given by the God Indra and built by Vishnukarm. The city is encircled by the river Chao Phraya by its innumerable cannels. Boats were once used for communication across the Cannels. But now Cannels are connected and converted into streets. That is why it is also called the Venice of the East.

Bangkok is a cosmopolitan City:

The development work in Bangkok had been started after the second half of the twentieth century and continued in the 21st century to make it a global city. By the time it had been turned into a city of international trade. The people from neighboring country such as Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia and other Asian countries are regularly immigrating to the city. Besides Thais, Chinese, Indians, Europeans, and Americans are also living in the city making it a cosmopolitan in character.

The growth rate of Bangkok was the highest in the period of 1985-1996:

The newly built Bangkok and the natural beauty of its surroundings have converted the city into a place of attraction for tourists. In the period of 1985 to 1996, the economy of Bangkok was flourished so much so that the national growth rate has been increased year after year to reach to the highest in the world. Its area such as Silom and Asok became the busiest business center. Because of the cultural and historical heritage the district Phra Nakhan and Dusit turned to be the sight for tourists. The venues like Grand Palace, Wat Pho, the Giant Swing, and Sanam Luang are located here. The beauty of Siam Square was similar to that of Shinjuku in Tokyo or Piccadilly Circus in London. In 2009 Siam Digital Gateway shopping complex is going to be open in the Siam Square which will enhance its importance and beauty a step further.

Bangkok maintained the natural greenery:

Bangkok is two meter below the Sea level. Naturally rising of water level tends to submerge many areas easily requiring adequate measures but simultaneously makes the soil very fertile for growing greenery. Lumphini Park appears as an oasis of greenery among Bangkok’s skyscrapers. The administration has already designed a massive plan for growing green Zones as is done in the case of Bangkok’s central Park.

Suvarnabhumi Air Port is a standard International Air Port:

A newly built International AirPort 30 Km to Bangkok has increased the city’s global status a step further. So long Bangkok has Don Mucang International Airport which was one of the oldest airports in the world. With the ever increasing Air Flight Bangkok has been developing a new Air Port against all local and political opposition since 1970 with vast space of land and with all modern amenities. The new International Air Port named as Suvarnabhumi Air Port was opened on 28th September 2008 and the older Air Port was utilized for domestic flight.

Bangkok is a place of Sacred Buddha:

Bangkok is a lively city both in day and night. Contact on communication has no problem. Pay Phones are present in Air-Port, at most of the hotels along with internet access. Even though the Thai is the local language, English is understood everywhere. The Road signs are written both in Thai as well as in English. But there are certain things which are strictly followed, such as smoking is prohibited in many public places, malls and air-ports. To win the hearts of locals one should avoid kissing and instead follow the custom of ‘Wai’, a system of wishing a person by placing the palms of two hands together and never by a handshake. Everywhere the image of Buddha is regarded as sacred. Visiting any Buddha Temple one should keep away the shoes. There are other things to avoid. (i) avoid touts to get rid off hefty commission, (ii) avoid dropping a litter big or small in the street to get devoid of the payment of large fines, (iii) avoid shouting to preserve the decency of the city.

The Journey by Chao Phraya River Tourist Boat is a journey of entertainment:

It takes visitors on a cruise circuit of nine piers for a sightseeing tour of old Bangkok along with Chao Phraya River Tour from Sathar just below the Bangkok Sky-train Station at Taksin Bridge. The night life of Bangkok is also enjoyable. There are variety of entertainment venues and disco centers. The name of Disco (9am-1pm) center in the basement of the Novotel Hotel in Siam Square close to Siam BTS Station is worth mentioning.

Bangkok is a vibrant, colorful city of 21st century in Asia:

Bangkok is a City of 21st century. The commuters’ problem due to huge concentration of people in the city of Bangkok making the movement nearly standstill had been solved by undertaking the programme of MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) underground Train and BTS ( Bangkok Mass Transit System) Sky-train, one of the safest, most comfortable, quick and convenient way to get around Bangkok. Since December 5th 1999, it has transformed the face of Public Transport system in the Thai Capital. This has relieved off the commuters from the sufferings of chronic congestion, noise and pollution and had given a comfortable, air-conditioned and reliable ride through central Bangkok. The one rail line is running from North to South in the form of L and the other is in the form of a loop from National stadium (north) to Taksin Bridge at the end of the Sathorn Road. The two lines meet at Siam center when passengers can switch from one line to another. The impossible became a reality in April 2004 by opening metropolitan electric train ( rot fai fah) by the construction of 21KM long bored tunnels consisting of 18 stations some of which even gone down to 30 meter deep under the city’s major roads. These are the spectacular achievement in the city of Bangkok making it a vibrant, colorful city of 21st century in Asia.

The Beaches of Bangkok:

To go to beach areas it requires few hours journey from Bangkok either by taxi bus or to some distance by train. Some beaches also have the facility to go by flight. Although it is relatively cheap to fly to beaches and islands, some people prefer to go by taxi with the intention of passing few days in the resorts of beach area.  There are plenty of beaches with wondrous of natural beauty, some are quite and some are not.

Bangkok is definitely an interesting visit to visit. Too bad it is plagued by political problems.

Hi Lilian,

Political problem is everywhere in every country small or big. But why does it? It is because of corruption, power and force of suppression of stronger section over weaker section. However, it is also necessary in the quest of ideal democracy and in the rise of human value and human CIVILAZATION. But the nature has made Bangkok a unique place in the world, no body can remove it. We hope every thing will subside with the sense of raising the feelings of brotherhood and friendship in the mortal uncertain life of human beings.

Hi James,

Thanks for reading my article. The growth rate is the record in different sources of internet as far as my knowledge goes. Yes, I have to be well otherwise how I would pass the remaining days of life.
